What To Do Now?
Central Text: 1 Kings 19:11-12 [Elijah in the Cave]
“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
Hello Fellow Readers,
Everything is on pause as this outbreak just seems to get worse.
Life is confusing, surreal, and scary.
But one thing remains true: God is still God.
It’s crazy how everything we know is disrupted and all you want to do right now is hide.
Hide from this virus, the outside world, from your emotions of worry and fear, and from everyone else’s emotions too.
So many voices are yelling at you in every moment. The news, the media, your friends, your family; and they’re all delivering bad news.
Everyone is worse than the last.
No wonder you… we, want to hide.
But did you know?
As you hide alone in your cave of fear and anxiety wondering “What to do now?”, there is a voice trying to get your attention.
The sound of a gentle whisper that’s behind the mighty storm, the earthquake, and the fire.
A whisper that bears the Good News.
The Good News that existed long before you did.
The Good News that remains good no matter how many catastrophic events happen in the world.
The World may seem like it is ending, but this is a call.
A call to take advantage of this pause to attend to the One who’s been trying to grab attention our attention, but we have been so busy doing life that we have ignored and forgotten the Life-Giver.
Listen to the gentle whisper.
For He tells us that those who look up at His beloved Son who died on the Cross for us, will live.
Not only live, but also get to know a perfect love that neither life or death; or anything else in heaven, on earth, or in hell can ever separate us from it (Romans 8:38-39).
So, What do We do Now?
Let’s live.
Let us seek this perfect love with all our hearts and establish a deep, personal, and unbreakable relationship with the Life-Giver.
Amen.
